Aga Khan University will hold its Annual Emergency Medicine Conference (AEMC) 2012, with the theme Emergency Medical Response in Disasters, here on April 26-27.
Organisers said here on Wednesday that AEMC is a platform for emergency medicine physicians, nurses, paramedical staff, policy-makers and public health professionals in Pakistan to interact and learn from local and international experts in emergency medicine.
It also allows them to share their views with other participants, they said.
The current year conference will provide an opportunity to learn about basic terminology in disasters, core foundations of disaster response, critical issues in managing common man-made and natural disasters.The aim is to discuss best practices, issues related to search and rescue, first responders, emergency management, research perspectives, capacity development and health system management during disasters both in global and local contexts.
Core Foundations of Disaster Medical Response, they said would be focussed on Natural and Man-made Disasters; Search and Rescue - Saving Lives in the Aftermath of a Disaster; Working Without a Functioning Health System; Disaster Research and Capacity Development; Using Technology for Disaster Medical Response.
The two-day moot has been specifically designed for global and local clinical and public health professionals, academics belonging to various disciplines as well as students.
