| Peshawar—The aggression from across the border continued as a group of militants from neighbouring Afghanistan Friday ambushed a security check post in Chitral seriously wounding at least five men in uniform. However, the retaliatory fire from the security forces resulted in killing of around eight trouble makers as the remaining miscreants fled from the scene after committing the crime. Reports reaching here said the Taliban militants from Nooristan province of troubled Afghanistan launched assault at border check post of Chitral scouts at Ursoon area with the help of sophisticated weapons including mortar shells that seriously wounded five security personnels. The security men guarding the post retaliated the attack with full might and eventually gunned down seven militants. "Taliban militants targeted the border post of Chitral Scouts at Ursoon area with mortar shells from Nooristan province of Afghanistan and five Jawaans of Chitral scouts injured in the gun battle that ensued". Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Nasir Jadoon told mediamen in Chitral. Independent sources told Pakistan Observer scores of trouble makers from Afghanistan's Nooristan province were effectively engaged by the Jawaans of Chitral scouts for quite some time and the gun battle eventually led to mowing down at least seven miscreants before the attackers could flee from the scene back to Afghanistan. The five injured soldiers, as commandant Chitral scouts said, were immediately airlifted to a hospital in Timergarah in Dir lower district for treatment. It may be recalled that hardly a week back in a similar aggression from Afghanistan, the Helicopters of NATOand ISAF forces operating across the border had attacked a security check post in Mohmand agency that had led to martyrdom of 25 soldiers including Major and a Captain of the Pakistan Army and serious injuries to over dozen others. http://pakobserver.net/detailnews.asp?id=128158 |
