Villagers demand construction of river embankments

From The News: CHITRAL: The elders of Sarghuz village on Friday threatened to launch protest campaign if the government did not construct river embankments near their village in Mastuj tehsil of Chitral district.

Speaking at a press conference, Sadat Jan, Ahmedud Din and Syed Jalal and others said the government had conducted a survey in 2010 that showed the rivers could cause damage and the village could be submerged if the flow of water was not diverted by constructing embankments.

The elders said the government issued a tender in 2011 for launching work on the project but it couldn’t be launched for unknown reasons. They asked the government to construct embankments on the riverside for securing the village that has 100 houses to avoid human and material loss in case of flood.
