Rs 60 million looted from Qatar’s petroleum minister in Kech

QUETTA: Unidentified gunmen looted around Rs 60 million from the convoy of a Qatari minister in Kech district of Balochistan on Thursday. According to sources in the Levies Force, Qatar’s Petroleum Minister Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Thani-Al Thanki was passing with his convoy through Kolva area of Kech district, when a group of armed men intercepted them and held them hostage at gunpoint. The men later searched all members of the convoy, including the Qatari minister, and made away with around Rs 60 million. Sources said that the Qatari minister had come to Kech district for a private hunting trip. Levies have registered a case and started a search operation in the area. Several Arab dignitaries have been allotted special permits for hunting in different parts of Balochistan, including Kech district. staff report
