Arbab terms Lawari Tunnel as significant mega project for country

ISLAMABAD: An emergency meeting in the NHA Headquarters chaired by Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil, held on the exclusive instructions of Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani to review progress on Luwari Road Tunnel.

The GM Luwari Tunnel Col ® Salman gave a detailed briefing to the participants over the progress of the project.

While addressing the meeting over the advantage of Luwari Tunnel, the Minister declared it as a mega project not only of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but of the whole country.

Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil said that this tunnel will not only facilitate the people of the area and ease their travel to the rest of the country but it will also strengthen our road links with Central Asian States and other neighboring countries; it will minimize distances, promote trade, tourism, industry, agriculture and will boost the economy of the country.
The Federal Minister urged the concerned NHA officials to ensure early completion of the tunnel and said that the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani want its early completion so that the promises made by the democratic government with the people could be fulfilled and the country witnesses and era of prosperity.
On this occasion, the Chairman NHA Syed Muhammad Ali Gardezi, in his address, assured the President and the Prime Minister through the Federal Minister that the NHA is bringing all its resources into use to ensure timely completion of all NHA projects including Luwari Tunnel.
The Chairman said that the Prime Minister has promised more funds to NHA to help ensure timely completion of Luwari Tunnel. He said that he and his team are working diligently to speed the construction process.
