30 Afghan militants killed after border raid

CHITRAL (INP): The Pakistani security forces killed 30 Afghan militants who had crossed the border to attack the Pakistani posts on Sunday.Pakistani security sources in Chitral said that the Pakistani troops were alert and they responded to the attack with full force killing 30 intruders. They said that as a result of strong retaliation, the remaining Afghan militants fled from the area.The attack happened in the Barawal area of Upper Dir. Pakistani forces retaliated and the intruders slipped back,” said one of the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.The officials said that security in the area has further been tightened. Pakistani Taliban leader Maulvi Fazlullah is expected to be behind the attacks who has taken refuge in the Afghan province of Nooristan. Pakistan had long drawn the attention of Afghan government and NATO forces that Pakistani Taliban who had fled from Swat have been regrouping in Nooristan and Kunar and demanded that action be taken against them.This was the seventh attack from Afghanistan on Pakistani side of the border.
The first attack from Afghan militants was in June at Nusratdara and the clashes continued for 5 days in which 28 security personnel embraced martyred while six Taliban were killed. The militants attack six check posts in Chitral in August, 2011 in which 25 security personnel were martyred and at least 20 militants were killed. Other attacks from Afghanistan side were carried out in Bajaur and Mohmand agencies.
