Chitral—Former MNA from district Chitral Zain-ul-Abideen has held an appeal to both provincial and Federal governments to ensure timely completion of the Lowari tunnel and release the required funds so as to resume construction work on the uplift project. In a press statement issued here on Monday, senior parliamentarian and former MNA Zain-ul-Abideen said that people of Chitral have attached high expectations from the Pakistan Peoples Party PPP government and hoped that the current regime would take interest in the project and utilize all available resources to ensure its timely completion.
The lowari tunnel project was on-going project and would connect the people of Chitral with the rest parts of the country besides removing the lingering sense of deprivation in the locals, he added. Zain ul Abideen said that Lowani tunnel was a unique gift of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto for the people of Chitral and should therefore be on the priority list of the present government. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Commerce and Industries, Syed Ahmad Hussein Shah has said that for the strong economy and sustainable development maximum industrialization was the need of the hour to generate employment opportunities for the people.
Keeping in view the importance of industrial development, the provincial government has allocated Rs.8 billion in current ADP for the promotion of industries out of Rs 2 billion have been sanctioned for the industrial sector of Hazara Division. The provincial minister was inaugurating number of developmental projects of industrial estates at Abbottabad initiated for rehabilitation and improvement of infrastructure. Managing Director, Small Industries Development Dr. Syed Akhtar Hussein Shah also addressed on the occasion Provincial Minister said that Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched 11 new industrial zones in the province thus reaching the number of industrial zone from 4 to 15.
