CHITRAL: Khyber Pakhtun-khwa Governor Masood Kausar here Wednesday said that provision of education facilities in all parts of the country was the policy of the present government to improve literacy rate and ensure rapid socio-economic uplift of the society.

It is our firm belief that our nation cannot get proper place amongst the comity of nations without promoting and improving the quality of education in the latest disciplines, the governor remarked.
Congratulating the people of Chitral on the fulfilment of their dreams for having the campus, the governor expressed the confidence that the campus would achieve the standards set for its future expansion and development to bring Chitral on a par with other districts of the country.
The present government believe that development must be through an equitable mechanism and the people should get equal opportunities, he said, adding that the campus would prove a milestone in enabling Chitralis to get more opportunities.
The governor said that universities were required to act as a platform for the think tanks and conduct research on all issues of the country and come out with suitable solutions for these issues.
Minister for Population Welfare Salim Khan said that literacy rate in the district stood at 73 per cent, which provided sufficient ground for establishment of the university and thanked the governor for taking interest in the establishment of the campus.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Jehandar Shah said out of 17 disciplines, four have been introduced at the Chitral sub-campus and the number will be increased with the passage of time. The ongoing infrastructure projects at Sheringal Campus would be completed by March next year, he added.
