Salim Khan against shifting of Lowari Tunnel funds

PESHAWAR (APP): Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Salim Khan on Wednesday while contradicting shifting of Lowari Tunnel funds to Multan and Larkana said the information was totally unfounded and those calling for strike on the issue were trying to deceive the people through foul politics.

In a statement here, the minister said that work on highly significant Lawari Tunnel project was halted to make some important alteration in the

initial design adding the PC1 of new design has been sent to ECNEC for approval. Once approval is accorded to new design construction work on this project would immediately be kicked off.

He said there was no truth in the report that Korean Construction Company has abandoned the project adding in fact it was propaganda from politicians with vested interest and attempt to create gape between government and people. He said these rejected politicians have wasted the time and economy of Chitralis by giving strike call with the consent of some so-called welfare organizations. He asked the people to pay no heed to such conspiracy as government has spent more than Rs. 8 billion on this project of much importance and no question arises about closing the project at this stage.
