PAC for registration of FIR against officials of Food Department Chitral - embezzlement of Rs.19.836million

Peshawar—Khyber Pakthunkhwa Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday ordered registration of FIR against officials of Food Department Chitral district found involved in huge embezzlement of wheat.

The meeting of PAC chaired by Acting Speaker KPK Khusdil Khan advocate was attended by MPAs Abdul Akbar Khan, Saqibullah Khan Chamkani, Muhammad Zamin Khan and Ziyad Akram Durrani at Assembly Secretariat. The meeting discussed at length audit objections for year 2008-09 and took several important decisions.

While expressing the Food Department’s reply about embezzlement of Rs.19.836million in wheat in Chitral in 2005-06 is un satisfactory, the Committee directed the Secretary Food to identify the Director and other responsible officers appointed on those days for discplinary action and determine revenue submitted to the national kitty along with interest.

Expresses its concern over repeated audit objections regarding embezzlement of wheat, the Committee observed that only a clerk is being held responsible for lapses while officers were get free. Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker said strict action would be taken against elements found involved in such heinous practices and accountability of government’s departments will continue. The meeting will now be held on Monday.
