CHITRAL: Mystery surrounding the death of a girl was resolved on Sunday after a team of doctors who conducted her autopsy declared that she had committed suicide, local sources said.
The sources said the administration had requested Dr Hidayatur Rehman and Dr Farhat Ijaz of the Saidu Sharif Medical College, Swat to conduct the post-mortem of the girl whose death triggered controversy and it was claimed that she had been murdered.
The girl, a hafiza of Quran, reportedly committed suicide in Brep village of Mastuj tehsil recently. Soon after the incident, religious scholars in the district asked the authorities to probe the death in an impartial way to ascertain the real causes.
Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Chitral chapter, expressed reservations over the outcome of post-mortem and asked the administration to probe as to why she was forced to commit suicide. They asked the government to order judicial inquiry into the incident.
