LAHORE - An 18-year-old girl, student of Intermediate Class, committed suicide in Qilla Gujjar Singh police precincts in the wee hours of Wednesday.
The deceased girl was later identified as Arifa Kauser, resident of PHA at Empress Road. According to police, the motive behind this incident was yet to be ascertained. They, however, suspected from the apparent condition and evidences collected from the site that the girl committed suicide after her parents allegedly snubbed her over a family dispute. They further said the girl was studying in Chitral College for Women and a few days back she returned home for the preparation of exams. However Faiz Gull, father of the deceased, stated to police that she had been facing psychological problems since long as some evil forces were disturbing her. Earlier, according to apparent circumstances the girl locked the door of her room and hanged her to a ceiling fan at about 2am. “The family members however realised the situation of the girl and rushed to the room but to no avail as Arifa had breathed her last,” they added. On the other side, SHO Qilla Gujjar Singh Police Inspector Shahid Hussain maintained the statement of Fiaz Gull was dubious. “Some thing final will be established after seeking her post mortem report,” he added. Later, an Edhi ambulance shifted her body to the morgue for autopsy and also handed over to the bereaved family after completing necessary medico-legal formalities. The Nation Report
