DIR (Via The News Int'l) : Upper Dir District Police Officer (DPO) Ihsanullah said on Thursday that a kidnapped girl student, hailing from Chitral, had been recovered and handed over to her family.   The girl was produced before the sessions judge amid tight security where she wished to go with her parents.   Briefing local journalists after recovery of Zeenat, the DPO said no one from the peace Lashkar had been involved in her kidnapping.   Meanwhile, a lady doctor was also called to the court premises for medical report of the girl.   The Upper Dir sessions judge later told reporters at his chamber that first the girl felt nervous but when she was assured of full freedom and security, she opted to go with her parents. She was handed over to her family and sent to Chitral under strict security.   Talking to this correspondent, District Coordination Officer Riaz Khan Mahsud said that due to efforts of the district administration, the girl was recovered early in the day. "We had involved elders of various areas and informers for recovery of the girl," he added.   He said the girl was handed over to her parents amid tight security in the afternoon.   After the girl's kidnapping, a series of protest demonstrations, both by her family and people of Dir, were held. The police and district administration were of the view that she had eloped while the family contradicted it and accused police of sabotaging the case.   At a protest rally the other day, the parents complained that the police had recorded the girl's statement under pressure and mental stress.   The family had demanded that she be produced before a local court. The protesters had also given a 48-hour deadline for her safe recovery on Wednesday.   Sources said a local jirga succeeded to recover the girl, who was taken to the army centre at Panakot. She was later shifted to the police station and then taken to the sessions court in an armoured personnel carrier.   The sessions judge told journalists that first statement of the girl had been recorded under pressure and said that when a peaceful environment was ensured, she changed her statement and told the court that she wanted to go back home.   The Upper Dir DPO rejected the speculation that she had been kidnapped by a member of the peace Lashkar. However, he said the accused would be punished according to the law.   Former Lashkar chief Haji Mutabar Khan told reporters that some vested interests had been trying to implicate him and   other men of the Lashkar in the case. He said he could not even think of committing such a criminal act.
