Legendary artist Moin Akhtar laid to rest

KARACHI: Legendary TV, film and stage artist Moin Akhtar was laid to rest Saturday afternoon at Model Colony graveyard in Karachi. The funeral prayers of the legendary actor were offered at Masjid Tauheed in Malir. A large number of TV, film and stage artists, leaders of political parties and elite of Karachi participated in the funeral prayers. Provincial Ombudsman, Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik said demise of Moin Akhtar was a national loss. He would be remembered not only for unmatched talent as artist but also for his startling qualities of character, Aasd Ashraf said. He prayed for eternal peace of departed soul. People representing different segments of society paid glowing tribute to legendary artist Moin Akhter, who passed away due to cardiac arrest at a hospital here on Friday. The whole nation felt grief as the country lost another seasoned comedian at a brief interval. In separate messages, Sindh Minister Rauf Siddiqi, Adviser to Sindh CM Rashid Rabbani, Special Assistant to Sindh CM Waqar Mehdi, President PPP Karachi Division Najmi Alam and President PPP Sindh’s Cultural Wing Sarfaraz Rajar have expressed heart-felt sorrow and grief over the death of Moin Akhter. agencies
