Britain will not hand over Musharraf

British government has refused to give Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan's former president, who is wanted by a court over Benazir Bhutto murder case.

Musharraf is wanted for the murder of Bhutto and a trial court has issued a no boilable arrest warrant for him.

Bhutto was elected as Pakistan's Prime Minister twice and chaired the Pakistan People Party (PPP). She also won the United Nations Prize in the field of Human Rights in 2009.

She was murdered on 27 December 2007, while leaving a campaign rally for the PPP. Bhutto was shot while waving to the crowds from the sunroof of her bulletproof vehicle. At the same time explosives blew up and killed many people around.

Musharraf, then president who is now in self-exile in London, is claimed to be part of a “broad conspiracy” to kill his political opponent prior to elections.

The British government, however, has announced that would not hand over the former military dictator to Pakistan because the two countries have no extradition agreement to exchange accused persons.
