All Chitral Qirat, Naat competition held

From The News: PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Information Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Friday said the Awami National Party (ANP)-led provincial government was ready to negotiate with the militants if they renounced violence.

He was addressing the All Chitral Qirat and Naat Khwani competition held here at the Peshawar Press Club. The contest was organised by the Chitral Youth Association. Mian Iftikhar said those killing people in the mosques, hujras, schools and shopping markets could not claim to be Muslims.

He said if the militants accepted the writ of the government and stop spreading terrorism the government would be ready to hold talks with them. “If they are not going to shun violence, the ANP-led government would keep on its fight against such forces,” he added.

Qari Muhammad Zikriya got first position in the Qirat competition while Abdul Quddus and Shamsur Rahman secured second and third positions, respectively. The naat competition was won by Behrullah while Mairaj and Saleemullah got second and third positions, respectively. President of the Peshawar University Teachers Association Jamil Ahmad Chitrali, Dr Habibullah Qazi and Sadiq Amin also spoke on the occasion.
