Tourism Policy 2010 finalised

ISLAMABAD (Daily Times): The National Tourism Policy 2010 has been finalised and forwarded to the provincial governments for their final feedback on the proposals, while the Friends of Democratic Pakistan (FODP) and donor agencies have been contacted for the restoration of tourism infrastructure in Swat Valley, Federal Tourism Minister Maulana Attaur Rehman said on Monday.
He was talking to reporters after chairing the fifth Inter-Provincial Tourism Ministerial Meeting held under the auspices of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) at the PTDC motel. The meeting aims at reviving tourism in the valley of Swat.

Rehman said the tourism policy had been prepared after getting proposals and recommendations from all stakeholders and it was reviewed and discussed in detail at the inter-provincial meeting.

He said the policy would be submitted to the cabinet for its consent and if approved, would be announced in the near future.

The main features of the new policy include the revival of tourism, which was badly affected due to the law and order situation in several parts of the country.

The tourism minister said it was decided at the meeting that the 6th Inter-Provincial Tourism Ministerial Meeting would be held on July 5 at the PTDC Motel in Chitral.
